The “İzmir NIC Legal Webinar Series” has concluded successfully, which was organised within the scope of İzmir Network and Innovation Centre (İzmir NIC) Project, implemented by Teknopark İzmir, delivered by Att. Ayça Arancı and her team, with the participation of a total 125 attendees online on themes targeted to entrepreneurs.

In the first training, which was held on 8 December, 2021, special attention was given to the Law No: 6698 on Protection of Personal Data (KVKK). The participants were provided with in-depth instructions on personal data, processing of the personal data, liability of the data controller and processor, the violation of the personal data as well as the sanctions for personal data misuse.

The second training was held on January 12, 2021 and with a focus on company bylaws. Amongst the subjects covered in the training were; investment process, investment and partnership agreements, the structures of joint stock companies and limited liability companies, tax advantages and disadvantages, the stages of the investment processes to be carried out with the investors. Some of the important articles that should be included in the partners’ agreements were also emphasized, and the participants were informed on other issues that entrepreneurs should bear in mind in the investment processes.

In the third online training, on January 25, 2022, with a special emphasis on Labour Law, the participants were provided with the information regarding the obligations of entrepreneurs as employers, the legal rights of the employees granted under Labour Law and other points to be taken into consideration.

On February 11, 2022, the fourth training in the series was held, with an importance placed on intellectual and industrial property rights. Information on both the Law on Intellectual and Industrial Property Law was provided, as well as the legal procedures for protecting intellectual and industrial properties. The content of the training included examples from various business models, covering different aspects of the IPR.

The final training, delivered on February 18, 2022, covered how option shares should be granted to the employees in order to boost performance and loyalty. Furthermore, some examples were offered regarding the articles to be included in the option plan, together with information on what should be paid attention to, tax considerations, and issues that need to be regulated.

İzmir NIC – İzmir Network and Innovation Centre Project

İzmir Network and Innovation Centre (İzmir NIC) Project, is implemented by Teknopark İzmir within the scope of the Ministry of Industry and Technology Competitive Sectors Programme, realised with the financial support of the European Union and the Republic of Turkey, aiming to enhance the commercialisation and internationalisation of innovative products, by fostering networks and strategic partnership among relevant stakeholders. The project, focusing on ICT and RE sectors, which are among the pioneers of economic development; aims to increase the capacities of innovation ecosystem actors (SME, Start-up, TTO, TGB, R&D Centres, etc.) in İzmir through trainings, Acceleration programmes, mentoring support, and networking activities.

The project, implemented with partners İzmir Institute of Technology (İYTE) and the Software Industrialists Association (YASAD), will run for 3 years.
